Moving to the area? Here are 5 popular lifestyles you will find in Sanford

Claudia Mundlos

Acreages with the ability to own horses, lake and riverfront living, urban lifestyle and suburbia at its best -you name it, Sanford has it! Here are the 5 most popular lifestyles you will find in town.

1.Lake and Riverfront Living

Sanford is home to some amazing lakes and with these comes the fabulous lakefront lifestyle. On top of that, Sanford also has the St. Johns River. Did you know you can visit historic Downtown Sanford by boat using the free Marina Boat Slips to dock your boat during your visit? If you are into boating, fishing, or canoeing right from your backyard, there are some gorgeous lake and riverfront properties available, but you have to be quick because those get snatched up quickly. Apart from Lake Monroe, our favorite lakes in the area are Sylvan Lake (private skiable lake of 200 acres) and Lake Markham (a beautiful 72-acre spring fed lake), both located on the West side of Sanford.

2. Horse Properties and Acreages

In hardly any location in Central Florida can you be so close to all the hustle and bustle, and yet so close to nature. Sanford even has a few equestrian neighborhoods, like Seminole Estates with 5+ acre lots. It’s not uncommon to meet your neighbors riding horses on the neighborhood streets. Rumor has it even a zebra resides at one of these properties!

3. Urban Lifestyle

Enjoy walking to the park, store, restaurant, local craft brew pub or even theater? Well, purchase a home in the historic district of Sanford and you get to enjoy just that lifestyle! Of course, you could also ride your bike or golf cart – which is yet another reason that makes this area of town and its surroundings so unique and attractive! Where else do you have a non-enclosed golf cart zone that spans over 25×15+ blocks? Watch out for those themed parades and bike rides!

4. Suburban and Active Lifestyles

For those among you who prefer the lifestyle suburbia offers, do not despair! There are plenty of neighborhoods all over town that will make your suburban dreams come true (including all the new construction developments in the area). From the master planned subdivision of Lake Forest with guard gated entrance and resort style amenities to smaller gated and ungated neighborhoods in all sizes and price ranges, you will surely find your dream home.
Many of these neighborhoods make it easy for residents to lead a more active lifestyle, not just because of amenities galore (like pools or tennis courts) but also because they offer direct access to fun walking trails like the popular Seminole Wekiva Trail. Spend your free time biking, rollerblading or simply walking to your favorite destinations. And even though these neighborhoods are not urban in character, the trails connect you to some of your favorite destinations, including soccer fields, parks, restaurants and shops.

5. Golf Communities

Last but not least, if you are a golfer and want to live virtually on location, there are homes available in Mayfair Club, adjacent to Mayfair Country Club Golf Course, Sanford’s historic golf course, and one of the first ever built in Florida. Some of these homes offer fabulous views of green but mostly residents enjoy the convenience of living within walking distance to this beautiful golf course and the peaceful atmosphere that golf courses tend to create.
